LIU, Connie Kang Photograph Connie Liu has a B.Eng. in biomedical engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China and a Master’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Toronto. She was a bioprocess engineer at a large biotech company in China before joining the academic research community as a researcher at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has industrial experience in project management and technology transfer from academia to industry. She has also received training in Chinese and Canadian intellectual property law, including intellectual property policy and strategies. Her interests revolve around innovation and intellectual property in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries; she has special interest in the commercialization of academic research, licensing technologies, firms’ research strategies, and intellectual property management. She was a Research Associate to Dr. Maryann Feldman from 2004 to 2006. Currently, Ms Liu is an M.B.A. candidate at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
