STEVENS, Ashley J

STEVENS, Ashley J Photograph Dr. Stevens has been Director of the Office of Technology Transfer at Boston University since 1995 and is also Director for Research Programs in the Institute for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization in the School of Management, where he teaches a graduate level, inter-disciplinary course on Technology Commercialization. Before joining Boston University, he was Director of the Office of Technology Transfer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School.

Prior to entering the technology transfer profession, Dr. Stevens worked in the biotechnology industry for nearly ten years. He was a co-founder of Kytogenics, Inc., where he is still a Director. He was also co-founder and General Manager of Genmap, Inc., and Vice President of Business Development for BioTechnica International. He started his career with The Procter & Gamble Company, where he held a number of positions in sales, marketing, strategic planning, and acquisitions.

Dr. Stevens is very active with the Association of University Technology Managers, most recently as Vice President, Annual Meeting and Surveys, and publishes and lectures frequently on many aspects of technology transfer, including the Bayh-Dole Act, the economic impact of technology transfer and its role in economic development, and the role of technology transfer in global health and technology valuation. AUTM presented him with the Bayh-Dole Award for 2007. Dr. Stevens holds a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences, and a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Chemistry from Oxford University.
