Patent Databases - Publicly Accessible
esp@cenet: The European Patent Office (EPO)
Search the EP database for patent applications published by the EPO and WIPO over the last 24 months. And, search the worldwide database for information about published patent applications from over 80 different countries and regions. esp@cenet® holds data on 60 million patents from 81 countries.
Google Patent Search
Google Patent Search covers the entire collection of patents made available by the USPTOfrom patents issued in the 1790s through those issued in the middle of 2006. Using the same technology that powers Google Book Search, Google has converted the entire image database of US patents into a format thats easy to search. As with Google Web Search, we rank patent results according to their relevance to a given search query. We use a number of signals to evaluate how relevant each patent is to a user's query, and we determine our results algorithmically.
Patent Scope: World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
This facility allows you to search nearly 1.5 million international (PCT or WO) patent applications, to view the latest information and documents available from the International Bureau, and to obtain the national filing status of PCT member countries.
Patent Database: The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Search issued US patents (full-text since 1976, full-page images since 1790) and US patent applications (published since 15 March 2001). The website also provides a range of useful additional resources.
Patent Lens: CAMBIA
Search the full-text of more than 8 million patent documents from US, Europe, Australia and WIPO, including their status and counterparts in up to 60 countries. Covers all technology classifications for US patent applications and patents, and is expanding from life sciences to all classifications for other jurisdictions.
Patents: Community of Science (COS)
A comprehensive bibliographic database containing records for each of the 2.6 million US patents issued since 1975.
PatentStorm offers patents from the US Patent Office, including full-text patent search. Today, we have all patents from January 1990 forward. PatentStorm is a sister company of Storming Media, a Washington, DC-based company that makes US federal government information more accessible.
Register Plus: European Patent Office (EPO)
The Register Plus is the place to find out whether a European patent application has been granted or not. It records the steps of the European patent granting procedure as the application passes through. Users can even call up images of the correspondence between the EPO and the patent applicant (or the patent attorney).
Patent database covering US, EP, Singapore, China, Canada, WIPO/PCT, Taiwan, UK, Korea and Thailand created by IPEXL under contract from the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. Includes additional features Patent Maps and IP Parade where IP/technology owners can evaluate, exploit and commercialise their IP.
The India based search system performs a full-text search over all the fields across the entire database of all applications and patents. Applicant search, issued patent search and publication date wise searches are available.

The most comprehensive database of global value-added patent documents published. 1.5 million patent documents are added into the database each year from 41 patent-issuing authorities. Team of 350 specialist editors assess, classify and index these documents to provide concise English language abstracts, which are readily searched and easily understood. As of June 2007, the database contains 15.5 million records covering 33.07 million patent documents.

US Plant Variety Protection Office (PVPO) - Public Access Databases
Search status and scanned copies of PVP certificates issued by the PVPO of the US Department of Agriculture; database updated monthly.
UPOV Plant Variety Database (on CD-ROM)
Data on plant varieties from contributing members of the Union and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) (representing about 300,000 documents) is available in the UPOV-ROM search system. The great majority of these documents relate to plant breeders rights or national listings in the members of the Union
CTM-ONLINE: EU Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, Trade Marks and Designs, (Community Trademark Online)
The Office for Harmonization promotes and manages trade marks and designs within the European Union. It carries out registration procedures for titles to Community industrial property, and it keeps public registers of these titles. CTM-ONLINE provides ready access to information on Community trade mark applications and Community trade marks, updated on a daily basis.
Japanese Trademark Database
The Japanese Industrial Property Digital Library maintains a searchable online database of 1.8 million registered trademarks and over 400,000 trademark applications.
Madrid Express (Trademark) Structured Search (WIPO)
The Madrid Express database includes all international registrations that are currently in force or have expired within the past six months. It reflects the situation of the International Register of Marks as at 08/10/2007. It also includes data relating to international applications and subsequent designations that have been received by the International Bureau but have not yet been recorded in the international register of marks.
TESS: US Patent and Trademark Office, Trademark Electronic Search System
TESS contains more than 4 million pending, registered, and dead federal US trademarks.

Lisbon Structured Search (WIPO)
The Lisbon Express database contains information on all the appellations of origin entered, in accordance with the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration, in the international register kept by the WIPO International Bureau.
Database of Origin and Registration (DOOR) (EU)
The Database of Origin & Registration (DOOR) project supports the agricultural product quality policy by providing a modern IT system for the dissemination of public data with regard to registered PDOs (Protected Designations of Origin), PGIs (Protected Geographical Indications) and TSG (Traditional Specialities Guaranteed).

This portal is designed as a database of the information on TK available on the Internet. Research revealed that though a lot of material is available on the Internet relating to various aspects of TK, these are not available at one place in a systematically classified fashion. This portal provides only a classification and brief description of the content but the information relating to any topic is provided by the content providers. The scope of this portal is limited to facilitating access to content generated by others and does not provide original content.

PIPRA (Public Intellectual Property Resource for Agriculture) Agricultural IP Database:
This web-based database was established to monitor and advertise, on an ongoing basis, the status information of PIPRAs 45 member institutions agricultural biotechnology intellectual properties.
